Although most of us take it for granted, our signature is really a solidified reflection of our self, our spirit, our thoughts, and our soul. When required, we quickly scribble it out without ever considering the power and meaning behind what we are writing down. The part of ourselves we are manifesting in this unique and written way…
The Declaration of Independence is an example of how a document would have less “value” without a human signature attached to it. By writing down our names, we commit our-selves to the contents of that piece of paper. We put part of our-selves and our thoughts into a solid and written form.
Today, we have pencils and erasers that can remove our thoughts from a written form. However, the Founding Fathers of America, who were of an educated minority at the time, wrote their names on this document in ink! There were no pencils and erasers then. Each man risked imprisonment and death by conspiring to write this document, as well as declaring their independence from England. We can imagine that a lot of thought and consideration went into each signature.
Like the 56 men who signed this document, our signature gives us immortality. Doing this one action is like we are making a drawing of our thoughts, spirit, and soul. Our conscious awareness goes into it, as we pause for a moment to write down our names. Subconsciously, we know that our signature can be traced back to us in life and after our death.
As traits of our individual identity, our signatures are on the same level as our voice, our eyes, and our fingerprints. However, our voices, eyes, and fingerprints will deteriorate… but, our signatures can last for centuries.
Signatures are a sign that indicate our personality and experience. A manifestation of who we are in written form. Signatures are spiritual. For man to go from developing the alphabet to where we all have individual and unique signatures is a beautiful thing to ponder.
When we sign our name onto a form, we intertwine who we are into the contents of that document or letter. We put a little bit of our-SELVES onto that document with our signature. Our signature comes from an inexhaustible place within us, because we can write out our names endlessly without depleting our energy or health.
There is usually a purpose or a reason for us writing our name down. When required to do so, we momentarily stop to harness our thoughts, our self, and our experience… then we direct all this down through our hand and into a writing instrument. As we do this, we intermingle our spirit with the thoughts triggered in the document.
Your own signature is YOU! It is one of the unique ways you express yourself. Next time you write your signature on a cheque, letter, or document… THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE REALLY DOING!
