Mistakes are not to be avoided… they are to be expected. By simply getting out of bed in the morning, we open our lives up to a multitude of possible mistakes happening throughout the day. If we then go to a work or a school environment, the possibility of encountering a mistake is even greater! Why beat ourselves up? See the mistake as a sign we are living. Confronting life. Changing, evolving, and learning.
Mistakes are rocks on the road we tread.
However, those rocks in the road seem to come in different sizes! Sare small pebbles… Some are cobblestones… and some are HUGE boulders! The small pebbles seem to be the mistakes we make alone, when no one sees. We often forgive ourselves for little mistakes we make. We brush it off easily. However, if we make a mistake in front of others…WELL! That mistake becomes a cobblestone… or even a HUGE boulder. We are embarassed that another human being has seen our faults. Through the mistake, we have opened ourselves up to ridicule and judgement. The act itself can be just as simple as if we had been alone. But, since it was done in public, there are witnesses… and it becomes a boulder. Pebbles are easier to walk on.. but we don’t learn from them as fast as we do walking on cobblestones and boulders.
I need to make mistakes… so I can IMPROVE.
I need to repeat mistakes… so I can LEARN.
I need to face challenges… so I can BECOME STRONGER.
I need to overcome setbacks… so I can make more INTELLIGENT CHOICES in the future.
